Infrequently Asked Questions

Have you finished your PhD yet?

At time of writing (July 2023), not yet! I’m due to submit in July 2024. I have a feeling the next year is going to go very quickly!

How can I follow your blog in an app like Feedly? What details do I need?

Apologies, I recently changed the URL of my blog feed so it might have stopped showing you posts. The URL to enter is http://www.philippamoore.net/philippa-moore-blog?format=rss

I want to start a blog/website but have no tech skills. Can you give me some advice?

I love, use and recommend Squarespace. It’s the easiest way to have a professional looking website if you aren’t fluent in HTML and aren’t comfortable building a site from scratch with code. It’s not free but I think it’s worth it. I’ve been using it since 2013 and have never been tempted to go back to Blogger or Wordpress. If you sign up for Squarespace and want to learn how to design your own site, I could not recommend Kerstin Martin’s Simple Start course more highly. Again, an investment but totally worth it!

When's your book being published?

My first book, The Latte Years, was published in 2016 by Nero/Black Inc Books. That book is a memoir (non-fiction) based on my years as a high profile award-winning blogger when the medium was in its infancy. The book I’m currently writing for my PhD, a historical novel, isn’t finished yet. But I’m looking forward to shopping it around when it is! I promise you'll hear about it if and when I have any news to share.

Where can I get a copy of The Latte Years?

Paperback, in Australia: as it’s quite an old book now, it probably won’t just be sitting on the shelves at your local bookstore but you can still ask them to order it in for you.
Or online, Booktopia

Paperback, rest of the world: Book Depository (they ship worldwide) and it also looks like you can get a paperback copy on Amazon US and Amazon UK.

E-book/Kindle:  Amazon UK, Amazon US, Kobo, iBooks

Audio book by Audible

If you’re in Australia, chances are high that your local library will have a copy (or several) too. Borrowing books from public libraries is also a great way to support authors!

Why did you stop blogging at Skinny Latte Strikes Back?

Simply because it was time - both to bring it to a close, and time the commodity, which I wanted to devote to other things. The one constant in life is change, and we must change too. When I began blogging in 2005, my life and priorities were very different to what they were by 2014, when it was clear that the original focus of SLSB wasn’t something I felt all that aligned with anymore. I wanted to evolve and start telling a different story.

That said, I am still so grateful for everything that came my way during 'The Latte Years', as I dubbed them. I'm still very humbled that so many people all over the world watched me evolve, stumble and rise again with so much interest, kindness and support. Thank you if you were one of them!

Are the Skinny Latte strikes Back archives still available online?

No, they are not. But if you miss the Skinny Latte Strikes Back blog, you can get a copy of my book! I've written all about that period of my life in The Latte Years.

If there’s a particular post or recipe you remember from my old blog that you’d like a copy of, let me know and I’ll see if I can dig it out for you.

Thank you for your continued support and I hope you'll continue to follow my adventures here, wherever they take me!

WHY DID YOU MOVE BACK TO AUSTRALIA?

Lots of reasons. The main one was wanting to be close to family and friends again. I’ll write a blog post about it some time!

I have a lot of feelings and judgments about you! I think you need to find Jesus.*

You are most welcome to your feelings. You are allowed to feel however you want about anything, including me.

However, I am not interested in this kind of feedback and you won’t get a response. So please don’t waste your time. If this online space, my writing, or me as a person just doesn’t resonate with you, that’s absolutely fine. Please click away and go and find something that does, and know that I wish you peace on your journey.

*Yes, someone has actually said this to me.

Is there any sponsored content on this website?

None whatsoever! This is just a site to share my own news and interests. As I write a lot about books, I am an affiliate with Booktopia, which means I use affiliate links to books on their website and I may receive a commission for a sale that I refer, at no extra cost to you. Any posts with these affiliate links are clearly marked as such. But please know that anything I share on this website is a genuine recommendation, I am not being paid to endorse anything (although if Pol Roger wanted to sponsor this website, that would be fine). I am happy to collaborate with or produce content for brands on their own platforms, please contact me if you'd like to know more.

CAN I WRITE A GUEST POST FOR YOUR SITE?

No, I don’t accept guest posts on this site. It’s philippamoore.net, after all! Thanks for your understanding.
